OVERVIEW OF LORTAB 5/325 MG
Lortab 5/325 contains a combination of Lortab 5/325. Hydrocodone (Lortab 5/325) is an opioid pain medication. An opioid is sometimes called a narcotic. Acetaminophen (Lortab 5/325) is a less potent pain reliever that increases the effects of Hydrocodone (Lortab 5/325).
Lortab 5/325 tablets are used for the relief of moderate to moderately severe pain.
Lortab 5/325 may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
An indication is a term used for the list of condition or symptom or illness for which the medicine is prescribed or used by the patient. For example, Acetaminophen (Lortab 5/325) or paracetamol is used for fever by the patient, or the doctor prescribes it for a headache or body pains. How should I use Lortab 5/325?
Use Lortab 5/325 as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
- An extra patient leaflet is available with Lortab 5/325. Talk to your pharmacist if you have questions about this information.
- Take Lortab 5/325 by mouth with or without food. If stomach upset occurs, take with food to reduce stomach irritation.
- Use a measuring device marked for medicine dosing. Ask your pharmacist for help if you are unsure of how to measure your dose.
- If you have been taking Lortab 5/325 regularly or for longer than a few weeks, do not suddenly stop taking it without checking with your doctor. Your doctor may need to gradually lower your dose.
- If you miss a dose of Lortab 5/325 and you are taking it regularly, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
Lortab 5/325 dosage
Dosage should be adjusted according to the severity of the pain and the response of the patient. However, it should be kept in mind that tolerance to Hydrocodone (Lortab 5/325) can develop with continued use and that the incidence of untoward effects is dose related.
Lortab 5/325® (Hydrocodone (Lortab 5/325) Bitartrate and Acetaminophen (Lortab 5/325) Tablets, USP 5 mg/300 mg): The usual adult dosage is one or two tablets every four to six hours as needed for pain. The total daily dosage should not exceed 8 tablets.
Lortab 5/325 ES® (Hydrocodone (Lortab 5/325) Bitartrate and Acetaminophen (Lortab 5/325) Tablets, USP 7.5 mg/300 mg): The usual adult dosage is one tablet every four to six hours as needed for pain. The total daily dosage should not exceed 6 tablets.
Lortab 5/325® (Hydrocodone (Lortab 5/325) Bitartrate and Acetaminophen (Lortab 5/325) Tablets, USP 10 mg/300 mg): The usual adult dosage is one tablet every four to six hours as needed for pain. The total daily dosage should not exceed 6 tablets.

Lortab 5/325 side effects
The most frequently reported adverse reactions include lightheadedness, dizziness, sedation, nausea and vomiting. These effects seem to be more prominent in ambulatory than in non-ambulatory patients and some of these adverse reactions may be alleviated if the patient lies down.
Other adverse reactions include:
Central Nervous System
Drowsiness, mental clouding, lethargy, impairment of mental and physical performance, anxiety, fear, dysphoria, psychic dependence, mood changes.
Gastrointestinal System
Prolonged administration of Lortab 5/325® 10/650 may produce constipation.
Genitourinary System
Ureteral spasm, spasm of vesical sphincters and urinary retention have been reported with opiates.
Respiratory Depression
Hydrocodone (Lortab 5/325) bitartrate may produce dose-related respiratory depression by acting directly on the brain stem respiratory centers..
Special Senses
Cases of hearing impairment or permanent loss have been reported predominantly in patients with chronic overdose.
Dermatological: Skin rash, pruritus.
